Last November, Kristine and Carolyn gave one of our most popular monthly meetings as they talked about how they walked the entire 49 Mile Drive and later wrote the book, Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive. Their books features 17 walks, and this two-hour walk is #16. It begins along San Francisco Bay in the rough, rusting, shipbuilding, warehouse neighborhood of Dogpatch (see it now before it’s gone!). Walkers continue past AT&T Park through the burgeoning, slick South Beach neighborhood along the postcard-perfect Embarcadero (promenading directly under the Bay Bridge), with a final stop at the Ferry Building. Three miles of flat terrain and beautiful views, with a little bit of history thrown in along the way. Bring $2.50 to hop on the T-line back to the beginning. Limited to 12 people. More info about the book and authors at walksf49.com.

We are pleased to present this free walking tour for SFHS members and their guests. The number of participants is limited, so you must RSVP. Call (415) 537-1105, ext. 0 or email rsvp@sfhistory.org at least 48 hours before the tour, and we will give you the meeting place.
