Volunteers are an essential part of the day-to-day operations of the San Francisco Historical Society.

Join a Committee
We invite you to contribute your time and talent by joining a SFHS Committee. Committees are made up of active, engaged board members, SFHS members, consultants, and volunteers from the community. Committees include Education, Publications, Programs, Marketing, and Development.
Event Crew Members
Event crew members make SFHS events possible. Responsibilities include assisting with event set-up, visitor registration or check-in, food and wine service, and clean-up after events. Volunteers assist with a wide variety of tasks and might have to be on their feet for several hours. Training will generally take place on the job or immediately before the event.
Hours will vary – it will typically take place weekday evenings or weekend days or evenings. Locations will vary. Minimum commitment is one event. Repeat volunteers are encouraged and welcomed.

Volunteer at the SFHS Museum
We would welcome volunteers to greet visitors and show them around the museum and its exhibits. If you love historic sites and like meeting people, this volunteer opportunity may be for you.
