MONTHLY PROGRAM

A Panel Discussion

The digital revolution has brought amazing changes to our lives and has also led to new ways we access our past using online sources and other new ways to share historical information. This program will be a panel discussion by local researchers who come from a variety of fields but are all dedicated contributors to online history-sharing sites. The panelists will discuss the topics of new research resources generally and use visual images on screen as examples of the depth of historical understanding that can be achieved through collaborative participation, as in the Cliff House Project.

The panelists will be Gary Stark, retired software developer, who founded and maintains the cliffhouseproject.com website; John Martini, author and retired National Park Service ranger; Zoe Heimdal, graphic designer, who created sanfranciscomemories.com; and Glenn Koch, insurance underwriter, author and prodigious collector of local historical artifacts. The panel will be moderated by our program director, John Freeman.

SFHS monthly programs are free to members. Non-member fee is $10, which may be applied to membership dues within 30 days; $5 for non-member seniors, students, K–12 teachers, and people with disabilities. Programs are normally scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month, except August and December. Programs are subject to change, so please check for updates at sfhistory.org.
