SF History Live: Philanthropic Ladies of San Francisco with Steve Johnson,
Tue. Nov. 14th @ 6:30PM (Broadcast & In-Person)
Many ladies have shown their love of the city by leaving legacies which we continue to enjoy today. This talk will focus on Lotta Crabtree, Lillie Coit, Alma Spreckles, and Friedel Klussman, all of whom enriched the city in many ways by their activism and endowments. Join us as veteran speaker, teacher, and historian Steve Johnson provides insights into some of San Francisco’s leading philanthropic women.
Steve Johnson received his degree in U.S. History from San Francisco State College (now University) and was a teacher for 35 years. He has been a Park Service volunteer for 20 years, giving historical walks on Alcatraz and at the Presidio. He is on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Tour Guide Guild and the Pacifica Historical Society, and does historical walks of Chinatown, North Beach, and Fisherman’s Wharf.
